How did you get the name Old Whaling Co?

We’d love to say it’s a whale of a tale, but it’s actually quite a simple story. Our name is inspired by our time spent on Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod and the history of those seaworthy locations.

Do you use whale oil/fat in your products?

Absolutely not!

Are your products hypoallergenic?

Our products are extremely mild and gentle. Our customers with the most sensitive of skin love our creamy bar soaps and rich body butters. To determine if our products are right for you, please see the full ingredients list of each product.

Do your products contain nuts?

  • Soaps - do not contain nuts
  • Body Butter - contains Shea butter which is extracted from a shea tree nut
  • Bath bombs - do not contain nuts
  • Scrubs - contains sweet almond oil

Are your products made for sensitive skin?

Customers with the most sensitive of skin find our products extremely mild and gentle.

Are your products safe for pregnancy?

Lots of mamas love our products! Only you and your doctor can determine if our products are right for you during pregnancy. Please see our full ingredients list for each product.

Are your products gluten free?

Yes, our products are gluten free.

Are your products vegan?

Yes, with the exception of our Oatmeal Milk + Honey Bar Soap and our Castile Baby Bar, both of which contain goats milk.

Do you test on animals?

Never ever! But they are safe to use on your pets.

Do you make shaving soap?

All of our soaps can be used for shaving!

Do you make Shampoo bars?

Any soap, with the exception of our Bamboo + Teak, can be used as a shampoo bar. Simply lather, massage in to hair + scalp, + rinse.

What is the base of your soap?

We use a combination of olive oil, coconut oil and soybean oil.

Do you offer fragrance free products?

Yes! Our Castile Baby Bar is fragrance free and our body butter is available fragrance free as well.

Shipping/Returns

We want you to be not just be satisfied, but ecstatic about your purchase! We make it easy on you - no return necessary. If you’re unhappy with your purchase please shoot us an email and we will work with you!

Where do you ship?

Currently we ship in the U.S. only. We are working with our UPS representative to open up worldwide shipping. We do not currently ship to any U.S. Territories including Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Can I cancel my order?

We can cancel your order up until it ships. Once an order leaves our hands, we are unable to cancel. If you need to cancel please call us at: 843-619-7799.

How do I track my order?

Once your order is processed, a tracking number will be assigned and emailed to you. 

How do you ship?

Online orders are shipped via UPS or USPS, wholesale orders are shipped via UPS.

Can I ship to more than one address?

If you would like to ship to multiple addresses, please create an order for each address.

How do I get free shipping?

All orders $50 and over ship free to one address.

How long does it take to get my order?

We pride ourselves on our shipping time and want you to receive your order ASAP. Orders normally ship within 1-2 days, but same day or next day shipping is always our goal. Orders are usually packed and shipped Monday through Friday. Best time to place orders is before 2pm Monday through Friday.

Can I get my order expedited?

Probably! Please send an email to: ahoy@oldwhalingcompany.com or call us at: 843-619-7799 ext. 0, and we can review options based on your deadline and location. 

Can you make custom products?

We do not offer custom options at this time.

Wholesale

I want to carry your products at my store. Where do I find your wholesale form?

How do I become an Old Whaling Company retailer?

If you have not ordered directly from Old Whaling Company previously, please fill out our Wholesale Application to get started! Then, our team will review your application and pending approval, you’ll receive a login account to access our Wholesale Direct portal.

How do I login to my wholesale account?

Click on the Account icon (between the Search icon and the Cart icon in the main navigation bar) and fill in the user information underneath the “Welcome Back” header. If you cannot remember your password, or aren’t sure if you have an account, please email us at wholesale@oldwhalingcompany.com with your store name and email address you want associated with your account. We will give this account access and provide you with your login information. Note: if you are not currently an Old Whaling Company retailer, you’ll need to complete a Wholesale Application before receiving access to our Wholesale Direct portal.

What if I already have a personal login account with Old Whaling Company?

If you already have a login account with Old Whaling Company for personal shopping, we’ll need to create a new account for you to access the Wholesale Direct portal.
  1. Create a new account with the email address you’d like to use for your wholesale account. Click on the Account icon, then fill out the form underneath the “New Customers” heading.
  2. Email us at wholesale@oldwhalingcompany.com with your Store Name and the email address of your new wholesale account.
  3. We’ll give your new account access and you can then login to the Wholesale Direct portal.

How can I tell if I’m logged in to the wholesale portal?

If you are correctly logged in to the wholesale portal, you should see a blue banner across the top of the website which reads “Welcome to our Wholesale Portal.” You should also see wholesale pricing for casepacks instead of individual products.

What do I do if I log in and can’t access the wholesale products?

  1. Ensure you are logged into the account associated with your wholesale profile.
  2. Email us at wholesale@oldwhalingcompany.com with your Name, Store Name, and the email address of your wholesale portal account

How do I add testers to my order?

ETo add a tester product, check the box either on the product page or beneath the product in your cart to automatically add a tester product to your order.

Why am I unable to check out?

If you have added products to your cart, but are unable to check-out, it is likely your cart does not yet meet our minimum order threshold. All first-time orders have $250 order minimum, while all subsequent orders have a $150 order minimum. You can check this balance in your cart as well.

How are wholesale shipping expenses calculated?

Shipping costs for our wholesale orders are 10% of the order total.

Can I pick-up my wholesale order at your warehouse?

Yes! You can select “Wholesale West Ashley pick-up” on the shipping page during the checkout process.

I am a local retailer whose orders are usually delivered directly by Old Whaling Co. instead of shipped, can I still order through your website?

Yes! Before completing your order, please email us at wholesale@oldwhalingcompany.com and we will mark you as a Local Retailer in our system so that you can select “Local Delivery” from the shipping page during the checkout process.

Do you offer private label?

We do not offer private label.
